The UIS Performing Arts Center is committed to making our venue inclusive to all people regardless of their needs.

Our Sensory Friendly programming is an example of one of our initiatives. We offer two additional performances for our audience members with sensory needs. These sensory-friendly performances are offered in our 124-seat UIS Studio Theatre or Sangamon Auditorium, with with limited lighting and sound changes.

In addition, the UIS Performing Arts Center has partnered with with KultureCity® to enhance our ability to assist and accommodate guests with sensory needs. Our goal is to provide an inclusive experience for all guests during all events. We strive to raise awareness of the needs and challenges faced by individuals with sensory processing needs by supplying our staff with annual training and by offering the resources and accommodation to our guests. We provide KultureCity® Sensory bags containing special KCVIP badges, feeling thermometer, fidget tools, and noise-canceling headphones are available for checkout (at no cost by leaving an ID) at our Guest Services Desk located on the House Left side of the lobby. 

How your gift can make a difference:

• $25 - you can provide 3 tickets to a Class Acts Sensory Friendly performance.
• $50 - you can cover all printing costs for programs and flyers for a show.
• $150 - you can provide tickets for a class or large group to attend one of our 2 Sensory Friendly performances.
• $200 - you can purchase or replace KultureCity® Sensory bags.
• $1,000-2,000 - you can cover the artist fee for a local musician or performing arts group to be contracted for a future Class Acts Sensory Friendly Performance.
