Gifts to UIS Field Stations contribute to...
The UIS Field Stations connect students with the local environment through active learning. They leave surprised by what they’ve seen and eager to learn more.
Your gifts support two different kinds of activities at the UIS Field Stations. The first is to support UIS students, particularly undergraduates, engaged in research. Donations have helped to cover expenses associated with consumables and other one-time use expenses associated with these projects. The second is to support our outreach and community education activities. At the Therkildsen Field Station we host over a dozen central Illinois high school science courses each year. Gifts help to support these activities by allowing us to replace and upgrade equipment due to wear and tear.
Examples of how your gifts can make an impact:
- $500 - Replacement of field sampling gear (plankton nets)
- $250 - Replacement waders
- $100 - Chemistries needed for students to run 25 tests on nutrients
- $50 - Roundtrip field trip to the Emiquon Preserve from campus
- $25 - Calibration solutions for water quality meters used by students
