School of Communication and Media

The School of Communication and Media provides students with hands-on opportunities to prepare for their future careers.

We house The Observer – UIS Student Media, Speech & Debate Team, and classes in interpersonal communication and media. The School of Communication and Media has grown 15% in the last 2 years, with projections of continued growth as we have revitalized the undergraduate program to include 4 specialized tracks and 4 minors. SCM will offer students the opportunity to specialize in interpersonal and cultural communication, journalism and media studies, strategic communication and public relations, or communication studies.

Your donation helps fund our continued growth, ensuring we have the latest equipment and opportunities available to help ensure the personal and professional success of our graduates.

• $10 – pays for one student’s entry in an individual competitive speech event
• $25 – invests in one debate competitor’s entry into a competition
• $35 – pays for one year’s renewal for Lambda Pi Eta – the student honors association
• $50 – buys a quality microphone to be used for podcasting in classes and camps
• $100 – purchases a steady tripod to safely hold/maneuver camera equipment
• $250 – helps pay for yearly fees for UIS Student Media
