Count Me In! For NPR Illinois
The Count Me In! campaign runs from May 1-10 and asks all listeners of NPR Illinois to proudly raise their hands in affinity for their local public radio station.
It starts with Public Media Giving Days, a national effort May 1-2 where public media stations band together to raise awareness – and dollars – to fund the essential work we do in our communities.
At WUIS/WIPA, we wrap PMGD into our annual spring fund drive to provide a condensed time we’re on the air asking for donations. And even though many in our audience have risen to the occasion to increase donations, we still haven’t replaced all the federal funds that were rescinded from our station last year.
When you say Count Me In! you’re doing more than making a gift. You’re joining a movement of people who want a news source that offers factual reporting from journalists they trust to keep all of us informed, engaged and enlightened.
What can your gift mean? Here’s just a glimpse of donations can be spent:
- $36 covers 12 top-of-the-hour newscasts for one day
- $70 buys one new pair of headphones for staff to use while recording
- $385 would pay for one week of Wait Wait … Don’t Tell Me!
- $10,000 would pay for a J-Corps series with community journalist training.
Public media belongs to all of us. It informs, inspires and connects our community. We are asking you to step forward and say Count Me In! to ensure the programs you rely on continue to thrive.
Count Me In! Count our community in. Count on public media.
